چکیده

My research field is Computational Geometry, and I am interested both in theoretical problems and in ‘real life’ applications. This statement includes a summary of my research work to date. The first part covers work involving L1 shortest paths, center point and obnoxious facility location (see [5], [6], [8]) most of this work was done during my Master studies [1999-2001], and is motivated by problems from VLSI design. The second part covers my recent research (as part of my Ph.D. thesis see [1], [2], [3], [4], [7]) which deals with Facility Location, Wireless networks layout design, Terrain simplification and Visibility computation. this work is mainly motivated by problems arising in GIS expert Systems, large scale telephone network design and Computer Graphics.

Parleda: a Library for Parallel Processing in Computational Geometry Applications

ParLeda is a software library that provides the basic primitives needed for parallel implementation of computational geometry applications. It can also be used in implementing a parallel application that uses geometric data structures. The parallel model that we use is based on a new heterogeneous parallel model named HBSP, which is based on BSP and is introduced here. ParLeda uses two main lib...

A Research Statement

The unifying theme of my research is discrete and polyhedral geometry, especially its applications to representation theory, geometric invariant theory, and algebraic combinatorics. Researchers in these fields have found the tools of polyhedral geometry to be very rewarding in recent decades. On the one hand, polyhedral methods have yielded significant results in both theoretical and algorithmi...

Local and Global Approaches to Fracture Mechanics Using Isogeometric Analysis Method

The present research investigates the implementations of different computational geometry technologies in isogeometric analysis framework for computational fracture mechanics. NURBS and T-splines are two different computational geometry technologies which are studied in this work. Among the features of B-spline basis functions, the possibility of enhancing a B-spline basis with discontinuities ...

Research Statement for Erin Chambers

Computational topology is an exciting new area which is emerging at the intersection of theoretical computer science and mathematics. Algorithmic techniques in topology are far from new, but the increasing use of computational geometry in many disciplines has led to an explosion of new results in both computer science and mathematics. There is currently great demand for algorithms which can mak...
